Single-vineyard wine from Forest Grove, wild ferment, mlf blocked, matured for 9 months in barrel (30% new). The fruit is very restrained right now, but it is already serving up lashings of pawpaw, yellow peach, red apples and the odd curry leaf here and there. The acidity is incredibly quenching and ripe, sprinkling flakes of crunchy sea salt on the fruit. A lot to lust after. Interestingly, the oak is already integrated at this early stage. A Margaret River Chardonnay with plenty of layers to peel back. Well priced for the interest it offers, Chardy fans ought to stick this on their radar. Made with 100% Gingin clone that was whole bunch pressed to barrel (30% new) seeing wild fermentation and kicking back for nine months. Pineapple husk and almond meal muse with ginger and a good helping of yellow peach. Wonderfully textural, the palate is brushed with a fine phenolic grip. Flashes of old school lemonade with a delicate raw cashew nuttiness, this is splendid deluxe and I just want more. Drink to five years+ Steve Leszczynski, 27th June 2022 - Q Wine-93
Bright, pale straw. Tropical fruits, melon citrus & apple aromas feature on the nose with gentle spice tones & integrated oak. The fruit profile is powerful yet controlled, oak beautifully balanced, the acidity bracing with a saline mineral quality. Refreshing, delicious, & very long. Juniper Estate is a producer of premium wines in Wilyabrup, the heart of the remote, environmentally pristine Margaret River winegrowing area lying in the south west corner of Australia about 270km south of the state capital, Perth. When the vineyard was planted in 1973 (under its original guise of Wright's), it was one of only six Margaret River wine producers. Juniper was established by the late Roger Hill and his wife Gillian Anderson with the intention of producing wines which rank among the best to come from Wilyabrup and beyond. Wilyabrup has established itself since the late 1960s as the most successful sub-region of Margaret River, particularly for red wines; our reds are true to the style of the region, with minimal influence from the winery, and are further testament to Wilyabrup's proven ability to produce wines of the highest quality.
