Mainly Bourboulenc and Clairette, with smaller amounts of Grenache Blanc and Roussanne, the 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc from Pere Caboche delivers a nose full of ripe pear and pineapple fruit. This tank-fermented effort is medium to full-bodied, plump and fleshy, then turns a bit chalky on the finish. Drink: 2021~2024 - WA91
The colour is bright on a pale yellow with light green hues. The nose is intense and well-balanced with hints of fresh fruit or fruit in syrup such as white peach or pear, followed by flavors of ginger and hawthorns. The mouth is full and refreshing. The finish is long and silky. This is a full-flavoured and elegant white wine. - Winemaker's Notes
The history of the domain goes back to at least 1652, when it was owned by the Chambellan family. This family also owned the property in 1777 when a daughter from the place married Louis Boisson and in this way connected the Boisson family with the property. The Boissons also worked as blacksmiths in the town and from this got the nickname "Caboche" (derives from the old Provencal word for horseshoe nails). This name was consequently chosen for the property (Domaine Pere Caboche).Domaine du Père Caboche covers 63 hectares of Chateauneuf du Pape (17 ha.), Cotes du Rhone Villages (15 ha.), Cotes du Rhone and IGP de Vaucluse.
