This Cuvee is very floral. Fine crisp and very classic Sauvignon bland by Vincent Pinard, there is plenty of fruit here, lemon, lime, and grapefruit zest with ripe juicy acidity. A strong complex terroir dimension is obvious too, with its chalky, mineral touches.
Domaine Vincent Pinard is a wine estate in the Sancerre district of the Loire Valley in France. It makes wines from the Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir grape varieties.
The estate comprises 17 hectares of vineyards. A traditional approach to making wine is taken. Herbicides, insecticides and other practices used to prevent rot are avoided.
The harvest is carried out by hand and quality is maintained by the careful selection of fruit. Wooden vats, tanks and barrels are all used in the vinification process.
The Sauvignon Blanc vines were planted in the limestone soils in the 1960s. Their age contributes to the complex character that has made the wines popular with critics. There are six different white wine cuvées in all.
The Vincent Pinard reds include three Pinot Noirs which, like much of Sancerre's reds, benefit from the clay-limestone soils. The vines average around 40 years old and are relatively low yielding. A rosé is also made from Pinot Noir.- Information from Wine Searcher
