Description

The 2018 Chianti Classico is soft, fruity and floral, all of which makes it an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next handful of years. Freshly cut flowers, bright red berry fruit and gently spiced notes all run through this perfumed, gracious Chianti Classico from Bibbiano. Drinking window: 2020 - 2030. - VAG91

Intense cherry, kirsch and floral aromas and flavors are the hallmarks of this juicy Chianti Classico. It has grip and should evolve nicely over the next 10-15 years. Best from 2022 through 2035. - WS90

Made with organically farmed Sangiovese, this opens with varietal aromas of violet, cooking spice and underbrush. The easy-drinking, savory palate offers tart red cherry, star anise and white pepper alongside pliant tannins. Enjoy through 2024.- WE90

This wine is the expression of all the territorial characteristics of the company and is produced with grapes grown on both sides of the property. The wine is brilliant ruby red showing notes of cherry, flowers, and undergrowth. On the palate, the wine is fresh and persistent. - Winemaker's Notes

The Winery

The first mention of the Bibbiano estate comes in a parchment dated 1089, located in the Abbey of Passignano. In March of 1865, the property was sold to the forebears of brothers Tommaso and Federico Marrocchesi Marzi. Today, Tommaso and Federico have committed themselves to what they term, Òbringing the past into the future.Ó This sentiment refers not only to their family's history but to their strong belief that the future of Chianti Classic must be firmly rooted in the region's specific terroir, that modernity should not come at the cost of tradition and authenticity.

Surrounded by over three thousand old-growth olive trees are Bibbiano's twenty-five hectares of Sangiovese and Sangiovese Grosso, along with smaller plantings of Colorino and Merlot. These certified organic vineyards are planted on hillside sites at elevations between 270 and 300 meters.
