Opening in the glass with aromas of sweet wild berries, peonies and a subtle touch of oak, Boillot's 2018 Bourgogne Pinot Noir is medium-bodied, delicate and lively, its succulent core of fruit framed by melting tannins. - WA88
A fresh, ripe and relatively elegant nose consists of various red berry aromas cut with hints of plum and earth. There is both good volume and energy to the caressing and utterly delicious middle weight flavors that display an interesting contrast as the finish has a bittersweet character. This is quite good for its level and should be capable of rewarding a few years of aging as well. - BH87
Hue:Brilliant ruby red. Nose:Fresh – crushed strawberries – vanilla undertones – red fruit. Palate:Delicate – fine – elegant tannins – well-balanced – gourmand – saline.- Winemaker's Notes
Domaine Henri Boillot is a wine producer based in Meursault known for its red and white wines from Côtes de Beaune appellations. The estate was named Domaine Jean Boillot until 2005, but was changed when Henri Boillot bought out his brothers and sisters in order to distinguish it from his brother's new Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot. Henri had previously set up Maison Henri Boillot for négociant wines and retains these labels to distinguish them from estate wines.
The domaine consists of 14 hectares (35 acres) evenly split between Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Most of Boillot's white wines come from premier crus in Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, including the entire 4-ha (10-acre) Clos de la Mouchere vineyard. The domaine's Pinot Noir-based wines come from premier crus in Savigny, Beaune and Volnay. In the vineyard, Boillot avoids the use of insecticides and herbicides, and heavy pruning takes place in spring to limit yields. Fruit is harvested as late as possible to ensure maximum phenolic maturity.
The Henri Boillot winery is situated in Meursault. The white wines are fermented in 350-liter barrels and bottled after 18 months in barrel. The Pinot Noir is fermented in stainless steel tanks with some stems retained, and then sees 18 months of barrel aging.
The premier and grand cru wines under the Maison Henri Boillot label are sourced from single-vineyard plots with single owners to preserve the authenticity of the site. The wines are made in exactly the same way as those using estate fruit. - Information from Wine Searcher.
