Bourgogne Pinot Noir, also known as Bourgogne Rouge, has a fairly intense colour, varying in intensity according to the vintage. It often has a violet tinge when young. This wine opens out early and offers a wide range of red berry aromas, sometimes developing animal hints when mature. The structure is supple; owing to the moderate tannin content. Bourgogne Pinot Noir can be drunk young, when it will already reveal elegance and typicity.-Winemaker's Notes
A very fresh red pinot fruit suffused with soft earth nuances leads to nicely vibrant flavors that offer pretty good depth and persistence for a Bourgogne though the finish is noticeably warm and a bit rustic as well.-BH86
The village of Vosne Romanee entered in the Burgundy history in 636. It was at the beginning of the XVII century that is first noted the name "Mongeard" in the registry. For more than eight generations, the Mongeard family has been established in Vosne Romanee, right in the midst of the Cote de Nuits, producing wine with an utmost respect for tradition.
Since then and through all the generations, the family is committed to their passion: Vine and Wine. The Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret, renamed since 1945, now operates a large vineyard in the purist of the burgundy tradition, My grand-father was Eugene Mongeard and my grand-mother Edmee Mugneret.
