From a Rutherford site, this 100% varietal, estate wine is aged similarly to the producer's fine Martha's Vineyard bottling, given plenty of time in new and neutral oak as well as in bottle. Beguiling spice and a warmth of red fruit provide tangy freshness around lengthy layers of salty oak, iron and baked plum.- WE96
uicy, with an engaging mix of red currant, blood orange and raspberry coulis fruit, laced with rooibos tea, mineral, sassafras and mineral notes. Ripe and tightly focused, showing a racy edge that imparts nice lift from start to finish. Best from 2020 through 2035.- WS94
The 2014 Vintage is remembered by a dry and cool growing season. Our fruit expressed complexity early on in the season which helped capture the essence of the Heitz style of winemaking. Harvest produced an outstanding amount of well-balanced fruit that boasted a superb depth of flavor in our wines that shine through now and will continue to develop for decades to come.
The Palate of the 2014 Trailside vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon expresses the savory winter herbs of English Thyme and Bay Laurel that Trailside has become synonymous with. The long cool growing season created a structure of bright fresh acidity and a certain lift in the wines that we aspire to achieve each year. Winemaker's Notes
Heitz Wine Cellars has played a significant role in the history of Napa Valley winemaking since 1961. Founders, Joe and Alice Heitz, produced their first bottle of wine with a commitment to excellence that now spans three generations. Thoday, sibling team, Kathleen Heitz Myers and David Heitz, lead the family business as president and winemaker, producing wines that are recognized worldwide for their purity, balance and proven age-ability. Heitz Cellars is internationally acclaimed for the consistent brilliance of its vineyard-designated Cabernets. When Heitz Martha's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon was introduced in 1966, it was the first Napa Cabernet with the vineyard-designation on the label.
