Schubert Estate (wines) was established in 2000 by Steve and Cecilia Schubert. Situated on Roennfeldt Road, Marananga the Schubert Estate is surrounded by vineyards producing the fine fruit used in flagship Barossa Valley wines made by internationally renowned wineries such as Torbreck, Greenock Creek, Two Hands and Penfolds. From the initial 2000 vintage of one hogshead of wine the Schuberts have been encouraged to produce a little more each vintage – just enough to supply their mail orders and a limited amount for export and remaining to be one of Australia’s true small boutique or “garagist” wineries. Schubert Estate’s flagship wine, Goose-yard Block Shiraz is a single vineyard wine and within each year’s Australian Wine Companion it has proven a consistency in quality - achieving a rating of 5 Glasses: 94 -100 . Outstanding. Wines of the highest quality, usually with a distinguished pedigree. (editions 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008). Other wines (also produced from the Goose-yard Block vineyard) and generally single-barrel wines (barrique - French Oak) are The Gosling; Future releases will be: The Lone Goose; and the Gander. The wine is handcrafted, open fermentation, basket pressed, French-oak barrique maturation and bottling without filtration.
