The harmonious 2015 Astrales manages to keep the poise in a warmer year, within the profile of the zone and house style, which is generously oaked and powerful but in search of elegance and balance. 70,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2017.-WA92
Plum and blackberry flavors mingle with loamy earth, licorice and smoky notes in this solid red. Muscular tannins are well-integrated, showing enough acidity for balance. Drink now through 2030. 4,200 cases made.-WS91
Astrales 2015 stands out for its intense nose of black fruits, spices, balsamic and toasted notes, with great balance, a lingering finish on the palate, great intensity and backbone, finishing with a firm and fine tannicity, allowing excellent ageing over the coming years.-Winemaker's Notes
Astrales is a red wine produced en the Ribera del Duero region by the Astrales winery. The winery is in the hands of the Romera de la Cruz family, currently the third generation of viticultors and of Eduardo García, son of the famous oenologist Mariano García, the man behind wines such as Aalto, San Román or Mauro.
Passion for Vineyardsize="3"> Winery “Los Astrales” commenced operations at the end of the year 2000 trough the Romera de la Cruz Family´s initiative. They are the third generation of wine growers in Anguix, and have inherited a solid wine knowledge from their parents and, possessing an uncompromising philosophy of quality they decided to give upsuppluing grapes to other wineries and have decided to become wine producers.
By recruiting Eduardo Garcia (Mauro, Mauro Dos, Leda) to the company, who had just completed his vocational training in France and United States of America and who will be responsible for the family´s winery (Mauro, Maurodos) and also as Technical Manager in “Los Astrales“, the company received a boost which permitted the project to materialize in the 2001 harvest.
The last milestone is the incorporation of José Hidalgo Togores as Technical Director in 2013. José Hidalgo, in addition to one of the most recognized winemakers in Spain, is the author of the “Viticulture and Oenology Treaty”, the text used in most Oenology Schools of Spain and Latin America.
