Prominent wood and menthol elements fight somewhat with the ripe poached plum and earth scents. There is both good density and mid-palate volume to the velvety and seductively textured flavors where the mildly warm finish is a bit flat though not heavy. Drink:2023+ - BH86~89
The soil of Savigny-lès-Beaune is ideally suited to growing vines and is also comparatively deep. The wines from this village are moderately intense in colour. They have an elegant, fairly powerful bouquet, dominated by Morello cherries, blackcurrants, raspberries, modulating over the years towards strawberries and hints of woodland undergrowth. Subtle, with discreet tannins, and a low acid content, they have a light, open structure which gives them a feminine image. Perfumed and mellow, they have a rich bouquet. They have fire and strength, but above all it is their exquisite delicacy and finesse which makes them so appreciated by wine-lovers. Winemaker's Notes
The village of Vosne Romanee entered in the Burgundy history in 636. It was at the beginning of the XVII century that is first noted the name "Mongeard" in the registry. For more than eight generations, the Mongeard family has been established in Vosne Romanee, right in the midst of the Cote de Nuits, producing wine with an utmost respect for tradition.
Since then and through all the generations, the family is committed to their passion: Vine and Wine. The Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret, renamed since 1945, now operates a large vineyard in the purist of the burgundy tradition, My grand-father was Eugene Mongeard and my grand-mother Edmee Mugneret.
