This wine shows beautiful results in this vintage. Nebbiolo loves a long growing season, and that's exactly what it got in this year. The 2013 Barolo Cannubi is a delicately nuanced wine with blue flower aromas of violets and pressed rose followed by dried berry, spice, licorice and white truffle. You'll really enjoy those unique Cannubi aromatic characteristics in this balanced and elegant wine. Drink:2020~2035 - WA93
Aromas of lavender, straw, cherry and raspberry mark this slender, sinewy red, whose tannins hold court midpalate, then subside as the sweet fruit returns on the finish. Best from 2021 through 2033. - WS92
Subtle aromas of dark berry, espresso, exotic spice and French oak slowly take shape on this. The firmly structured palate offers sour cherry, cranberry, coffee and licorice while close-grained tannins provide an assertive backbone. Drink 2023–2033. - WE92
Michele Chiarlo is a producer in the northern Italian region of Piedmont, specializing in wines from its best-known sub-regions: Barolo, Barbaresco, Asti and Gavi.
The winery was established by Michele Chiarlo in 1956 with inaugural vintages of Barbera and Moscato from Asti. The winery produced its first Barolo in 1958 and, in 1987, bought part of the prestigious Cerequio vineyard, which is informally considered to be one of Barolo's "cru" sites. In 1996, Chiarlo purchased La Court estate in Nizza, the source of its highest-quality Barbera d'Asti. While the winery is relatively young for the region, Chiarlo himself is from four generations of Piedmont winemakers.
Michele Chiarlo's portfolio is informally divided into four collections: Cool, Classic, Cru, and Icon. Wines under the Icon range represent the best wines Chiarlo offers and are only made in top vintages in very limited quantities. The four grapes Chiarlo works with are Nebbiolo, Barbera, Cortese and Moscato, with its range of Barbera d'Asti wines garnering the winery the most acclaim. - Information from Wine Searcher
