Bodegas LAN is a Spanish wine producer located in Rioja - the most famous wine producing region of the country. Its name is an acronym of each of the provinces it straddles: Logroño (the capital of Rioja and the region's name until 1980), Álava and Navarra.
The wine portfolio from Bodegas LAN is Tempranillo-dominant with varietal selections produced as well as blends with Graciano, Garnarcha and Mazuelo. The Culmen Reserva and Viña Lanciano Reserva are the winery's premium offerings and are only made in exceptional vintages. The remaining wines within the range are produced in both modern and traditional styles.
Estate vineyards are planted to Tempranillo, Mazuelo, Graciano and Garnacha and range from 40 to 60 years of age. These old vines are protected by the Cantabria Mountain range and are planted on stone-heavy soils which is ideal terroir for concentrated grape production. Grapes are also sourced by the company from long-standing growers within the Rioja region.
The company is a relative newcomer to the Rioja region, especially in comparison to the other historic producers found here. The company was founded in 1972 and today belongs to the Sogrape Legacy Wines conglomerate. - Information from Wine Searcher
