Domaine Laurent Roumier is a wine producer based in the village of Chambolle-Musigny, in the Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy's Côte d'Or. Its portfolio of vineyard parcels includes plots in the grands crus Bonnes-Mares and Clos de Vougeot sites, as well as a range of Premier Cru climats that includes the famous Les Charmes vineyard in central Chambolle.
The origins of the domaine are tied to those of the high-profile Domaine Georges Roumier, which was founded in Chambolle in 1924 by Laurent Roumier's grandfather. The estate was passed through the family as per France's Napoleonic inheritence laws (in which the estate is divided between children).
Laurent Roumier's father, Alain (who had worked for their Chambolle neighbor, the prestigious Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, for decades) took his share of the Georges Roumier vineyard holdings (divided between him and his brother) in the early 1990s. Since then, father and son have expanded the vineyard holdings which now stand at 12 hectares (30 acres).
Harvest and sorting is carried out by hand, and a proportion of the grapes are destemmed and vinified in concrete vats. The grand and premier crus are aged in oak barrels of which roughly half are new oak (the village-level wines see around 30 percent new oak).
Domaine Laurent Roumier also produces numerous regional wines, including a number of Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits. - Information from Wine Searcher
