The markedly ripe yet elegant, complex and airy aromas of both red and dark currant that are spiked with a variety of floral, spice and wet stone traces. The palate impression of the tautly muscular and much more mineral-inflected broad-shouldered flavors is more refined if less seductive while delivering just a bit more persistence on the balanced finale. This is presently on the slightly toasty side and it too needs to add depth, but the underlying material appears to be more than up to the job and overall, this seems very promising. Drink: 2033+ - BH93
The domaine was established in 1988 when the parents of Anne-Françoise, Jean and Jeanine Gros of Vosne-Romanée decided to let go of a few parcels of the family domaine (The domaine was initially known under the names of Gros-Renaudot, then Louis Gros, and after inheritance, Jean Gros).
At the same time Anne-Françoise aquired a domaine in Flagey-Échezeaux, and later with her husband, François Parent, purchased a vineyard in Savigny-les-Beaune.
Shortly thereafter, François added to the domaine his own vineyards in Pommard that he inherited from his family. Being the 13th generation of winemakers, he continues to aquire knowledge and techniques that enable him to vinify his wines so that they express the typicity and complexity of the aromas of the Pinot Noir.
Together they decided to unite the two domaines and install in Beaune the caves, cuverie and buildings.
