Description

There is enough reduction present to mask the underlying fruit though discreet spice elements can be discerned. As one would expect, there is notably more size, weight and power to the broad-shouldered flavors that also display a somewhat dry and short finish. The supporting tannins seem ripe though at present they're fairly grippy. This too presents a question mark. - BH88~91

The Winery

Domaine Anne Gros is a small Burgundy estate based in Vosne-Romanée, producing a range of bright, precise and elegant wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

The domaine has a total of 6.5 hectares (16 acres) across nine appellations, including parcels in the Grand Cru vineyards Clos Vougeot, Echezeaux and Richebourg. Anne Gros also makes village-level Vosne-Romanée and Chambolle-Musigny wines, as well as generic Bourgogne wines.

The vines are farmed according to biodynamic principles. Red grapes are vinified in epoxy-lined cement tanks, with whites in stainless steel. Barrel-aging typically lasts around 16 months with 80 percent new oak for Grand Crus, 50 percent for village wines and 30 percent for regional wines.

Anne Gros is part of an extensive winemaking family, and succeeded her father in 1988; the estate was named Domaine Anne et François Gros until 1995. Domaine Gros Frère et Souer, Domaine Michel Gros, and Domaine A.F. Gros are all run by Gros' cousins – the latter, run by Anne-Françoise Gros, is easily confused with Domaine Anne Gros.

In 2008, with her winegrower partner, Anne also established Domaine Anne Gros & Jean-Paul Tollot at Cazelles in Minervois. - Information from Wine Searcher
