Shows some subtlety, sliding its juicy blackberry and plum fruit through a veil of fine-grained tannins, with pepper and mineral overtones. Has a deft sense of harmony and balance. Best from 2010 through 2016. - WS93
The 2006 Shiraz Lily’s Garden comes from McLaren Vale. It reveals a complex aromatic array including balsam wood, spice box, violets, earth notes, pepper, blueberry, and blackberry. Layered and rich, it conceals enough ripe tannin to evolve for another 2-3 years. It has outstanding grip, depth, and a lengthy, pure finish. Drink it from 2011 to 2022. - WA92
Dark purple plum in colour, so dense, it's almost black. The nose shows great intensity filled with plum, mocha and aniseed and secondary notes of clove and mixed spice. A dense lush mouthfeel with sweet oozy fruit. Fruit driven with well balanced velvety tannins, sweet dark plums encased in a rich mocha chocolate, supported by subtle vanillan oak. - Winemaker's Notes
Two Hands is a wine producer specializing in red wines made from Shiraz in a variety of regions across Australia. It was founded in 1999 by Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz as a negociánt-style business in the Barossa Valley. Now, the company makes a range of wines from McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek, the Barossa Valley and the Clare Valley in South Australia, and Heathcote in Victoria.
The founders thought that by buying fruit in from around the country, they would be able to maintain quality better than if they owned their own vineyards. As well as Shiraz, Two Hands sources Grenache, Mataro, Roussanne, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon from its preferred regions, and brings it all to the winery in Barossa, which was built in 2004.
The flagship Garden Series consists of a top expression of Shiraz from each of Two Hands' key regions. These six wines are vinified and aged in oak separately by lot and then blended. Two Hands also make a range of more approachable red and white wines, and a collection named for one of the brand's founders, Twelftree. Two Hands has also made a collaborative wine called Two Worlds blending Australian Shiraz with Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. - Information from Wine Searcher
